MSC Restructure Update – Depot 74

alt

We have finally come to the end of the saga of the restructuring of the Part time Mail Service Couriers in Depot 74. In total we managed to gain back a few of the routes that the Corporation had cut in the original restructure that was implemented in June. From the eight (8) routes management had cut, we regained three (3) for a total loss of five (5) part time routes.

We have agreed to have a unit bid that is currently happening and it will be implemented on November 18, 2013.

The five (5) part time drivers that will not have a schedule or route at the end of the bid will be kept over complement and continue to work in the transportation section. Currently no part timer will be faced with moving as we have several part timers covering long term absences and have a number of temporary employees back filling the part time route in Depot 74.

All temporaries will continue to be used by transportation, as we are heading into the Christmas operation, although some of the displaced temporaries may not be working in the Depot 74 unit.

Mid January, there will be a master bid for all part time MSCs in the Transportation Section (VMPP Hub, VPDC, Depot 74 Unit). This will be implemented on February 9, 2014, at the same time that the full time master bid will be implemented with the move to the PPC.

After the implementation of the master bid, all long temp coverage will be re-bid throughout the transportation section.
