CUPW PACIFIC REGION SPRING EDUCATIONAL
CUPW VANCOUVER LOCAL Application Deadline: Friday, March 4, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.
The following courses are available to Vancouver Local Members who wish to apply for the Pacific Region’s Spring Educational being held at Harrison Hot Springs from Thursday evening May 5th until Sunday May 8th, 2016.

Basic Shop Steward: Shop Stewards are the backbone of our Union. This course will cover the roles of a steward. Participants will learn how to represent members in disciplinary interviews, health and safety, our rights under federal legislation, and much more. There is no prerequisite for this course.

Local Administration: Participants examine the general responsibilities and tasks of Local executive members as set out in the CUPW constitution. Priority will be given to Local Executive Committee members.

STRIKE Preparation: This course is to prepare members to fight for our collective rights from a place of strength. Topics such as strike scenarios, bargaining, as well as current and emerging issues regarding postal service.

Temporary Workers and Their Rights: This course includes CUPW history as well as information on rights and benefits of temporary workers, assignments, bumping, and the steps to take to get a permanent position.

Vancouver Local Participant deadline is March 4th, 2016. Please fill out the Vancouver Local’s Regional Education Application form (CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD) and submit to the Vancouver Local office by Friday, March 4th, 2016 by 5:00 pm. There are a limited number of spots per course for the Vancouver Local, so please apply as early as possible.
