Why CUPW celebrates Pride.
Over the years, the labour movement has supported political action and legal action to win protections against the discrimination of LGBTTQ+ members. There is also a history of the LGBTTQ+ community supporting labour movements through fundraising and rallying support with union events, campaigns, protests and struggles.
In Canada, we now have legal recognition of same-sex couples and equal marriage. Despite these victories, we know that discrimination and human rights violations are a daily occurrence on our work floors. Having human rights enshrined in legislation does not mean that our members who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Transgender and Queer do not suffer from discrimination.
In the spirit of the celebration of diversity and the continued struggle for human rights, we would like to extend a warm invitation to all CUPW members, Allies, Family and Friends to join us at the Vancouver Pride Parade on August 5, 2018.

The Vancouver Local would like to extend a warm invitation to all CUPW members of the LGBT community, straight allies, families, and friends to join us at the Vancouver Pride Parade.
• The parade starts at noon (12:00 p.m.) at Robson and Thurlow.
• We will be marching with the CUPW banner as part of the multi union contingent.
• Check our website: www.cupw-vancouver.org or call our Local office for the location of where our CUPW group will meet!
• Be there around 12:00 p.m. showing all of your colors, dressed up, and ready to have fun and show your PRIDE!!!!!
