One of the concerns that members are talking about is whether they will have a job after we move to the new processing plant in Richmond.
Members should not worry about job security. Every regular member currently employed by Canada Post will have a job when we move.
On Tuesday, July 30th 2013, members from the Depot 74/99 work floor and representatives from the Union met with the employer to discuss ways to resolve the issues arising from the restructure.

On July 15, 2013, Canada Post imposed a flawed and contentious restructure on the postal workers stationed at Depot 74/99. Urban Services, the department responsible for all restructuring exercises, decimated routes and deleted positions resulting in widespread service failures, over-burdening, and overtime. CUPW representatives from the National and Regional offices, along with Vancouver Local Executive and Modern Post committee members, participated in meetings with Canada Post management this week to discuss Postal Transformation (PT). These meetings are being held in accordance with Article 29 of the Collective Agreement, and as such take the form of negotiations as opposed to consultation. The main distinction between the two is that the parties may negotiate changes to the Collective Agreement in order to eliminate any adverse effects upon our members that may be created as a result of Canada Post’s PT initiative.
