If you are interested in participating on this committee, please read the information below, taken from our Vancouver Local By-laws, in regards to the committee’s mandate:
8.3 P Women`s Committee
- The Women`s Committee shall be an open standing committee to deal with the status of women in the workplace, union and society.
- In May of each year, the Women`s Committee shall meet and elect a Coordinator. The Coordinator shall be allowed to book-off up to eight (8) members permitting for loss of wages. Any dispute regarding book-offs shall go to the Local Executive and at the subsequent General Membership Meeting.
- The Local Women`s Committee functions shall be to study issues and concerns affecting women and shall make recommendations to the Local Executive Committee on:
- Involvement of women in the Union with the goal of full participation of women in all levels of the Union;
- The education of membership on equality issues facing women;
- The situation of women in the workplace and ways to improve it.
