By celebrating Asian Heritage month , it gives us all an opportunity to the contributions and achievements by Canadians of Asian descent. Also, during this time we can reflect on the perseverance and activism of Asian Canadians who have shaped Canada into what it is today.
The theme for Asian Heritage month in 2021 is about “Recognition, Resilience and Resolve”. As you all know, during the pandemic we have seen a huge rise in discrimination against Asian people around the world and here at home. While we are celebrating the gains, we also should take a stand against all forms of Anti-Asian racism and discrimination. Members of the Vancouver Local Executive Committee (LEC) continue to take a strong stance against all forms of discrimination. This helps in promoting diversity on our work floors.
We would like to acknowledge the efforts and struggles of those members on the LEC who are of Asian and South Asian descent. THANK YOU!
