VANCOUVER LOCAL BASIC SHOP STEWARD COURSE 2021

This 2-day course is for Vancouver Local Members who are either interested in becoming Shop Stewards or want to learn more about their rights under the Collective Agreement. You do not have to become a Shop Steward to take this course, but you must have taken a Basic Shop Steward Course to be eligible to run as a Shop Steward in the Vancouver Local. (As per Vancouver Local Bylaws)

Course prerequisite: You MUST have attended at least one (1) General Membership Meeting in the past twelve (12) months, prior to the course application deadline.

“Stewards are the backbone of the Union. The aim of this course is to provide new stewards with knowledge and confidence. Topics include: The roles of the steward, how to investigate and file a grievance, communication skills, shop steward rights, the steward as organizer/mobilizer, and key provisions of the urban operations collective agreement.”

Please fill out the Vancouver Local Education application form legibly and in full. Must include your work location, shift, and days off. Partially completed or illegible applications will not be accepted.
