Notice of Motion # 1:

Since members are elected to be shop stewards and; Since becoming shop stewards one needs the educational training to advocate for our Union rights;

Be it resolved that a member that is elected to shop steward should attend a basic shop steward course.

Be it further resolved that the Union courses basic shop steward and grievance handling be given preference in our Vancouver educational offerings.

Notice of Motion # 2: 

Because it is important to make an admission that the land we stand on belongs to those who lived here before colonization those who made their homes along the shores and waterways of what we now call the Pacific Northwest

Because making an admission is a simple gesture to raise awareness to our membership, and to create dialogue of the importance of Truth and Reconciliation

Because Truth and Reconciliation is a vital part of decolonization and giving respect to Indigenous Peoples and their land

THE VANCOUVER LOCAL 846 OF CUPW will amended its bylaws to include land acknowledgment of the Indigenous Peoples of the area in which the meeting is being held

THE VANCOUVER LOCAL 846 OF CUPW will use the following language in its acknowledgement:

City of Vancouver: We formally acknowledge that this meeting is taking place on the unceded traditional territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations;

City of Burnaby: We formally acknowledge that this meeting is taking place on the unceded traditional territory of the Musqueam, Squamish,Tsleil-Waututh, and Kwikwetlem First Nations;

City of Richmond: We formally acknowledge that this meeting is taking place on the unceded traditional territory of the Musqueam, Tsawwassen, and Kwantlen first nations;

On the North Shore: We formally acknowledge that this meeting is taking place on the unceded traditional territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations                                                             

Notice of Motion # 3:

Because we have elected shop stewards who have never taken a shop steward course, yet are legally representing the Union.

Be it resolved that article 9.4 of the Vancouver by-laws add:

9.4 (g) which will state: To be elected as a shop steward a nominee must have completed a basic shop steward course.
