Notice of motion

Because the land acknowledgments have become rote, something we say, and because our National Constitution speaks to supporting Indigenous Rights.

And because, Recent uncovering (sic) at Residential Schools of Indigenous People throughout the mostly unseeded lands of Canada, The Vancouver local change their bylaws to state:

Land acknowledgments will be followed by a reading of one recommendation at each GMM from 94 Recommendations to the TRC.

 THE VANCOUVER LOCAL 846 OF CUPW WILL inform its members of the 94 Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada by reading one call to action every General Membership meeting; and

THE VANCOUVER LOCAL 846 OF CUPW WILL FURTHER  amend its by-laws as follows:

  1. Land Acknowledgment
  2. Reading of one of TRC’s ninety-four Calls to Action
  3. Reading of new members
  4. Reading of the previous meeting’s minutes
