Following the resignation of Rebekah Mahar, the above position is now open for election. (The duties of the Organization Director/Tyler are listed on the back of this bulletin.)
Candidates must be a member in good standing and must have attended at least three (3) General Membership Meetings in the twelve (12) months prior to and inclusive of the close of nominations as per Article 9.1 D of our by-laws.
Interim election procedures apply. Nominations in writing, with written acceptance, may be sent to the Union Hall prior to the October GMM. Nominations may also be made and accepted at the Thursday, October 25, 2018, GMM.
The election will be held:
Thursday, October 25, 2018, at 7:00 p.m.
Maritime Labour Centre
This election will take place as part of the normal order of business during the October Membership Meeting as per Article 9.7 A of our by-laws, and will cover till the annual election in January 2019. Please note that you must be a member in good standing to vote.
6.9 THE ORGANIZATION DIRECTOR AND TYLER:
- Shall be an elected officer and voting member of the Executive Committee.
- Shall maintain the membership attendance book for Executive Committee, General Membership and Special Meetings.
- Shall maintain a monthly listing of members eligible to run for office in the Local, as set out in Article 9.
- Shall check membership credentials at all General Membership and Special Meetings.
- Shall maintain order at meetings as requested from the Chair.
- Shall audit attendance at meetings to see that a quorum is maintained.
- Shall chair the Organization Committee.
Shall assist the Local Secretary-Treasurer as required.
