The open bid for assignments at the new plant (PPC) will begin on October 16th for both full-time and part-time PO4s who belong to the VMPPS Post Office (VPDC and VMPP). Please note: this bid is not applicable to PO4s working in other Post Offices in the Local such as Metro-Vancouver Retail and Vancouver Delivery.

Many accommodated members are concerned about how they will be placed into an accommodation in the new Processing Plant. Currently the Union is working on putting together a bid for the new plant. We have managed to come to an agreement for the P04s and members will be bidding for the assignments by seniority.

Postal Transformation (PT #12): UPCOMING OPEN ASSIGNMENT BID

UPCOMING OPEN ASSIGNMENT BID

CUPW proposed an assignment bid procedure to fill assignments at the new plant (PPC) at consultations last week. We proposed a one-step bid. There will be no need to bid twice (first for a section and then for a shift). Instead, everybody will bid for a section and shift at the same time. Management has insisted that the bidding begin on October 3, 2013. More details of the bid will come out in the near future.

PLANT (PPC)

Canada Post has given CUPW two sets of schedules. One of them is for the new plant’s opening in February 2014. The second set gives us an idea of what Canada Post wants to do in the future as full-timer’s retire, quit, or transfer. They plan to reduce full-time PO4 and PO5 positions while increasing the number of part-time PO4s.
