RE: SPRING EDUCATION – APRIL 3, 4, AND 5, 2009 – RICHMOND

The Pacific Region’s spring education will be held at Delta Vancouver Airport, 3500 Cessna Drive, Richmond, B.C. V7B 1C7 (phone: 604-278-1241). The courses will run April 3, 4 and 5, 2009. The 4 courses being offered this spring will be:

BASIC SHOP STEWARD
This course is for members of Urban and RSMC bargaining units wanting to become ashop steward, or just to have a better understanding of the rights and duties of a shop steward. You will also learn how to protect our sisters and brothers on the work floor.

BENEFITS
This course offers a comprehensive look at the CUPW Benefit Plan. Priority will be given to Local Executive Members. Union Representatives will be asked to attend.

LOCAL ADMINISTRATION

This course focuses on the responsibilities outlined in Article 9 of the National Constitution, etc. Priority will be given to Local Executive Members.

TEMPORARY RIGHTS
This course is designed to cover all rights of the temporary worker. Priority will be given to temporary workers.

The deadline for applications is February 25, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. All applications must go through your Local and Registration form must be signed by an executive member. Locals are responsible for lost wages.

TEMPORARY WORKERS RIGHTS COURSE

February 25 & 26, 2009

The Vancouver Local will be offering a Temporary  Workers and Their Rights Course on February 25 & 26, 2009, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  The course will take place at the Vancouver Local Union Hall at 1079 Richards Street in Vancouver.

Preference will be given to Temporary workers and Shop Stewards.

Those interested may complete an Education Application form and mail, drop off or send by fax (604-685-4931) to the Local Union Hall to the Attention of Janet Askin.  Deadline for applications is February 18, 2009.
