This meeting is to vote on the resolutions sent by the membership to make changes to the CUPW Constitution.
There will be no other business discussed at this meeting.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Every year, the Vancouver Trans March is a celebration of joy and diversity that marches ever year on the Friday of the August long weekend; this year the march will take place on July 31st on Commercial Drive. Over the last few years, the march has grown in size, and last year the march had a record attendance of nearly 7,000 people!
The Vancouver Local has been a proud and long-standing supporter of the Vancouver Trans March, and this year, we are calling on postal workers to support the march by volunteering to make all the logistics of the march possible. Roles include setup, tear down, first aid, road safety, de-escalation, active listening and several other roles that many of our CUPW members already have experience in.

6.11 EXECUTIVE STEWARDS
A. Shall be elected officers and voting members of the Executive Committee.
B. Shall be members of the Grievance Committee.
C. Shall report and consult with the Second Vice-President regarding Health and Safety matters for their shift or work area.
D. Shall accompany the President or First Vice-President into management meetings, when requested by the President or First Vice-President.
E. Shall work in conjunction with the Grievance Officer on the preparation and hearing of grievances at the first level and arbitration, when required.
F. Shall attend appropriate Shop Steward meetings, and shall make reports to the Shop Steward meetings and the Executive Committee.
G. All Executive Stewards shall be given the opportunity to assist the Grievance Officer in the preparation and processing of grievances. The Executive Stewards shall be booked off on an equitable and rotating basis.
Motion 1:
Be it resolved that the dues waiver request to cover dues for Mike Palecek from October 2024 to February 2026 is approved.
Motion 2:
Motion to make Secretary Treasurer full time for the month of August and September 2026.

If you are interested in participating on this committee, please read the information below, taken from our Vancouver Local By-laws, in regards to the committee’s mandate:
8.3 P Women`s Committee
- The Women`s Committee shall be an open standing committee to deal with the status of women in the workplace, union and society.
- In May of each year, the Women`s Committee shall meet and elect a Coordinator. The Coordinator shall be allowed to book-off up to eight (8) members permitting for loss of wages. Any dispute regarding book-offs shall go to the Local Executive and at the subsequent General Membership Meeting.
- The Local Women`s Committee functions shall be to study issues and concerns affecting women and shall make recommendations to the Local Executive Committee on:
- Involvement of women in the Union with the goal of full participation of women in all levels of the Union;
- The education of membership on equality issues facing women;
- The situation of women in the workplace and ways to improve it.

Pacific & Prairie 5-Day Joint Educational
September 13-18, 2026 @ Gimli, MB
Advance Shop Steward
This course gives experienced stewards an opportunity to assess their strengths and work on the areas they want to improve. Participants review grievance investigation basics and practice face-to-face communications, including meetings with management. Other topics include self-care, strategies for shop floor mobilization and recruiting new stewards, the duty of fair representation, the rights of temporary employees and OCRE’s, and the Short-Term Disability Plan.
Please note participants for this course must have Basic Shop Steward and is focused for more experienced stewards.
Turtle Island the Turtle Island course aims to build meaningful, long-term relationships with and among indigenous peoples inside and outside our workplaces. The course identifies key moments in indigenous peoples’ history in Canada, connects these historical events to the current context, and debunks myths and stereotypes. It concludes with participants identifying ways to act as effective and respectful allies to Indigenous peoples in their struggle for decolonization.
Please note all members that have not taken it are encouraged to apply.
These courses present a unique opportunity for both regions to work collaboratively on the challenges we face daily. By joining forces, we can build a stronger, united front that tackles issues with greater efficacy and innovation. Additionally, participating in these courses allows us to reenergize and gain fresh perspectives, fostering a sense of renewal and commitment to our shared goals.
The deadline for registration is 5:00 p.m. on August 5, 2026. (NO EXCEPTIONS) Please ensure your applications are in by the date, any application received after the deadline will not be considered.
To be considered, all applications must be signed and submitted by the Local President or their designate. Once the Local signs the applications, the Local must submit all signed and completed applications directly to Regional Office.
