Apply to attend the People’s Social Forum

Interested in attending a historic event?
Apply to attend the People’s Social Forum

This summer a historic event will be taking place in Ottawa from August 21 – 24th – The Peoples Social Forum. This event will bring together activists from all movements and organizations who are fighting for the environment, Indigenous people, peace, human rights, women’s rights, social justice, equality, youth and much more. The event will hold various workshops on topics and issues that are a fundamental part of our national constitution as well as issues that are important to us all as workers.

The National Executive Board has passed a resolution to send a limited number of members from each of the regions to attend this important event. If you are interested please write us a letter with your reasons for wanting to attend along with some information detailing your involvement and activism in your community and the union. The deadline for applications will be July 25th.

We would also like to encourage locals to consider supporting a resolution to send delegates from your local. The forum has been sponsored by the CUPW National and they are asking locals to support sending members with a call-out bulletin from National President Denis Lemelin dated June 19th.

We hope to see as many activists as we can from CUPW Pacific Region attend. This forum could not be at a better time as we are mobilizing to “Stop Harper”, Save Canada Post and end the loss of rights & freedoms that have been occurring at the hands of this Conservative Government. For more information on the event please go to: www.peoplessocialforum.org

If you are interested, please send your letter to Pacific Region at the above address or via e-mail to Nicole van Dijk: [email protected].

In Solidarity,

John Bail
National Director
