Volunteers at the PPC and LJOSH committee would like to thank all of you for your endless support in these trying times. Working during the COVID-19 Pandemic could be challenging and here are some messages from our members at PPC.

“My working experience with Canada Post for Covid-19 period is very humble, more caring for each other I try to make my coworkers happy, helping those who need more help.”Parm Sidhu PO4, PPC
“Well in the beginning yes I was scared and worried about myself and the well-being of my family whom I go back every day after work. I make changes in my life for better. I go to work thinking my work will bring some burden down from my country’s economy. Make me feel proud how I’m keeping my neighbors our citizen’s safe at home. Because of us they can get their daily needs deliver to their doors. It’s always a proud moment to see a banner hanging outside with a thank you written to postal worker on that.”Gurpreet Thothar, PPC Transportation

“As a mother it is hard to work in pandemic. I was worried about my kids. But in PPC I am feeling safe in pandemic, because there are lots of changes according to the situation: Social distance, Sanitizer at the entrance, Sanitizer wipes near the scanner station, ID swipe only once Different breaks.”Parveen Klair PO4, PPC.

“I and others have been in assistance to educate, and reminding of social distancing. This aspect is not easy task however, helps lots to understand this is protection of each other and others.”Darrell Siebring PO4, PPC

“Our union and local health and safety committee have been working hard together to put safety measures in place and employees at the plant are striving to support each other emotionally. The fear is there, whether we want to admit it or not. We just have to take it as it comes. We are all in this together, we can do this. Stay home and stay safe.” –  Amie-Ann PO4, PPC

“This pandemic gave us also the opportunity to think of others outside our own bubble. With the conjunction effort of the Pacific Processing Centre safety committee and CUPW shop stewards initiated a fund raising movement to the Downtown Eastside women’s center. I think this is very thoughtful and kind. I feel thankful, proud and have given me and colleagues a great sense of solidarity, accomplishment, act of service and purposeful to be an essential worker. To my colleagues, stay safe, be kind, be vigilant, and be unified. We will overcome this!”Melanie Cuenca PO5, PPC

“Working during the pandemic has added lots of challenges for us at the plant. We’ve had to adjust our ways of working to include the proper amount of social distancing in work and breaks. Our process also have had to change to honor peoples social distancing while working. But what’s given me hope is that people have stepped up to make things better and safer. We have volunteers who have stepped up to do extra cleaning of the high touch surfaces and equipment. They do this for the betterment of their fellow co-workers even though it is not part of their regular duties. It has given me hope in people though as we all work together to try and make our work place as safe as we can.“ – Bryan Schuck Techs Services, PPC

I am one of the volunteer who put my hand up to volunteer. We the volunteers of CUPW extend our sincere thanks to every one for extending their outreach support and involvement. I am very pleased to my coworkers for their encouraging words to us – volunteers – performing and maintaining cleanliness in our workplace.” Antoinette Bernabe PO4, PPC
