Friday, October 18th– Sunday, October 20th

Violence in the Workplace 3 day course:  This course addresses issues of violence and bullying in the workplace and provides tools in dealing with this complex issue.  (You must have attended a General Membership Meeting in the last 12 months, prior to the application deadline, to qualify.)

Basic Shop Steward 3 day course: This course is open to anyone who would like a better understanding of our contractual rights on the work floor, filling out grievances, the interview process, and tools to deal with everyday issues in our work areas.  Attending a Basic Shop Steward course, prior to being eligible to run for a Steward position, is now mandatory based on the Vancouver Local Bylaws.  Current Stewards without this training will receive priority.  You are NOT required to be a Steward to take this course but you are required to take this course to be a Steward.  (You must have attended a General Membership Meeting in the last 12 months, prior to the application deadline, to qualify.)

New to CUPW 3 day course: This course is designed for new members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers who would like a better understanding about CUPW’s role, what it means to be a member of a Union and CUPW.  (There are no pre-requisites to attend this course.)

Saturday October 19th

Pension Course:  This is a one day course from the perspective of C.U.P.W., and is meant to provide key information in making a smooth transition from the work floor to retirement.  This course is not meant to be in replacement of the course offered by CPC but focuses on many of the steps of retirement not covered in the Corporate Course. (There are no pre-requisites to attend this course.)

APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR ALL COURSES IS MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23RD 4PM.  APPLICATIONS CAN BE FOUND ON THE UNION INFORMATION BOARD, FROM YOUR SHOP STEWARD, OR ON THE VANCOUVER LOCAL WEBSITE AND CUPW OFFICE.
