THE FRONT LINE OF CANADA POST!

The Depot 74 restructure has resulted in a loss of 24 full-time positions and 9 part-time positions. With such a reduction in staffing, is it any surprise that there are implementation issues?  The reduced staffing has further been exacerbated by other factors, including:

  • Case strips that are incomplete or illegible because of tiny fonts;
  • Relay boxes that have been removed;
  • Elimination of Directs;
  • Elimination of storage cases;
  • Inventory omissions;
  • A reduction in p.m. MSC Bundle runs;
  • Increase in mail volumes and overall workload on an individual route basis

All of the above factors and others have contributed to delivery delays despite July mail volumes. In the meantime, Canada Post’s customers expect the regular mail delivery to which they are entitled, in a manner consistent with the quality of service that was provided prior to the Depot 74 restructure.
When experiencing delays and other delivery disruptions, Canada Post’s customers will naturally have enquiries. As the front-line of Canada Post, Letter Carriers may find themselves on the receiving end of those enquiries.
Marie Robinson, Depot 74 Director, is perhaps the most knowledgeable Canada Post representative in terms of Depot 74’s delivery operations.  For that reason, it is recommended that all customer enquiries be directed to Ms. Robinson by phone or email as follows:
