TEMPS AND CASUALS HAVE FULL RIGHTS ON THE PICKET LINE!

Over the next few weeks, strike votes will be conducted across the country. We hold these votes to show the Bosses that we are united in our demands for ZERO ROLLBACKS of our Collective Agreement. If, after this, the corporation still refuses to bargain with us, there is a very real possibility that we, as a Union, could be on the picket line in the upcoming months. As a result, many temps and casuals are left wondering what their rights are in the event of a work stoppage.

WE ARE ALL CUPW MEMBERS!

It is a common tactic of the Bosses to pit workers against each other. One of the simplest ways they do this is to separate us into different classifications and then attempt to intimidate those workers who feel most vulnerable. Newer workers, without the title of ‘regular employee’, are often targeted. As we approach a potential strike or lockout, management may try and infer that your job is at risk if you join your sisters and brothers on the picket line. They may also try to convince you to cross a picket line in order to save your job. THESE ARE LIES AND AN ATTEMPT TO DIVIDE THE WORK FLOOR.

All Temps and Casual workers are members of CUPW and are given protection as members of the Union. This includes the protections given to us in a strike/lockout situation.

If the Boss tries to intimidate you, bully you, or threaten you and/or your job in any way, please contact the Union Hall at (604) 685-6581 immediately. We will not allow these underhanded tactics to go unchallenged.

TOGETHER WE STAND, DIVIDED WE BEG

In Solidarity,
