Fall Education Seminars:
October 2017-Burnaby, BC

The fall education seminars for the Pacific Region will be held at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown located at 6083 McKay Avenue, Burnaby, B.C. The courses will run from Friday, October 27, 2017, to Sunday, October 29, 2017.

The following courses are being offered:

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE LOCAL SECRETARY-TREASURER

This course familiarizes new secretary-treasurers with their key responsibilities. Sessions include information on constitutional requirements, financial duties, keeping track of members and their dues, dealing with leaves and handling correspondence.

Note: This course is for newly-elected secretary-treasurers.

KNOWING OUR BENEFITS

This course explores Canada Post health benefits in detail. It begins with an overview of benefits and their costs, and then examines each CPC benefit in depth. The course binder includes resource documents and samples of the forms to use when making claims.

Note: Recommended for shop stewards and local executive members who deal
with benefits.

MENTAL HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE

This course is designed for interested members who are inclined to dedicate themselves to help, support and advocate for their co-workers suffering from mental illness, or for members looking at becoming Social Stewards, or those that are already Social Stewards.

Participants will explore the impact of different forms of stigma towards people living with mental health problems and identify the indicators and workplace factors of psychological health and safety in the workplace.

There is a fourth course that is being offered–RSMC Collective Agreement Course–but as there are no RSMCs in this local, we will not be vetting applicants for
this course.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at 12 Noon. All applications must be received at the Vancouver local, approved by your Local Executive, and signed by the Local President or designate. The local will pay the lost wages for the participants.

Application Form can be downloaded HERE

**You must have attended at least one General Membership Meeting, in the last twelve (12) months, to qualify for courses through the Vancouver Local.**
